Snaefellsnes Day Tour plan:
Our private Snaefellsnes Peninsula Tour begins with pickup in Reykjavík and a scenic drive toward West Iceland.
The first stop is Ytri-Tunga, a unique golden-sand beach known for its seal colonies and one of the best places in Iceland to observe seals in their natural habitat.
We then continue to Búðarkirkja, the iconic black church in Búðir, set against the dramatic Búðahraun lava field — a peaceful and highly photogenic location with deep historical roots.
Next, we explore the coastal cliffs of Arnarstapi, where the Atlantic Ocean has shaped rugged shorelines, striking rock formations and natural sea arches.
From there, we head to Djúpalónssandur black sand beach, where scattered shipwreck remains and historic lifting stones tell stories of Iceland’s fishing heritage.
The journey continues to Kirkjufell, Iceland’s most photographed mountain, together with the nearby waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss — one of the true highlights of the peninsula.
Finally, we drive through the ancient Berserkjahraun lava fields, formed around 4,000 years ago, experiencing one of Iceland’s most dramatic and untouched volcanic landscapes.
Last stop before heading back to Reykjavík is the charming fishing town of Stykkishólmur, beautifully located on the northern coast of the peninsula. With its colorful houses, small harbor and views over Breiðafjörður Bay, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and a glimpse into authentic Icelandic coastal life. Here, you can enjoy a short walk through the town, take in panoramic ocean views, or relax before the scenic drive back to the capital.
